it's official: pronger trade a total bust

so the COILERS sent down Ladislav "Cyril" Smid today to the junior leagues (assuming he clears waivers), giving us confirmation--as if we needed any--that the chirs pronger trade was a TOTAL BUST.

The COILERS have ZERO to show for one of the greatest hockey players of the modern era. they traded Pronger to Anaheim when better options were available for Ladislav Smid, a guy with ZERO NHL experience, and Joffrey Lupul, an untalented forward who just happened to be the grandson of the team's owner. if sutter tried to pull this shit in calgary, we'd be calling for his head. but luckily we never will because sutter is a competant GM unlike kevin BLOWE.

lupul, of course, was a bust, and was traded for sandy sanderson who, while he's over the hill and sucks bad, will still get more points than dustin penner.

and now it looks like smid is going to spend the rest of his career in the junior leagues. LOL. Are the coilers the most poorly managed team of the new millennium??

You should probably educate yourself a little bit about what you are talking about; so many mistakes in this one I don't know where to begin.

1. Smid doesn't need to clear waivers to be sent down; he's got a two-way contract which is mostly why he was sent down (Only him and Gilbert can go to the AHL without clearing waivers)

2. Sending a promising 21 y.o. dman to the minors does not signify the end of his career

3. Lupul wasn't traded for Sanderson. That's just idiotic.

4. Without acquiring a useless Lupul, the Oil aren't able to acquire Pitkanen; Sanderson was a throw-in, NOT the center of the trade.

5. I don't like Lupul anymore than the next guy, but calling him a bust right now is a bit premature. He may never be a star, but he's capable of putting up decent numbers with the right players. He just didn't fit in that situation with Edmonton.

6. The Oil received more for Pronger than just Smid and Lupul. They got Riley Nash and a first round pick TBA next year.

7. What inside sources do you have that better options were available. Illuminate me! It's easy to say 'they couldv'e gotten better' without actually backing it up. Unless you are referring to the oft-rumored ill-proven 'Pronger for Norton and Boumeester' nonsense people keep latching onto.

8. I'd argue Phoenix, for one, is more poorly managed than Edmonton

9. I like Brandon Sutter as a player, but let's see how his career unfolds before we start throwing insults about the procurement of players based on family ties.

10. Sanderson 'over the hill and sucks bad'? He's all of 35 y.o. (not quite over the hill), a whopping 11 days older than Owen Nolan and averaged just .02 PPG less than Nolan last year. Perhaps you should re-read your header and concentrate on talking about your own team.

11. I think there is something wrong with your keyboard! Whenever you type Oilers it automatically adds a 'C' in front of it. I'd get that checked out, it seems to be infectious, or maybe you and Harveygirl are using the same computer? Unless, of course, you actually possess that 2nd grade mentality where 'Coilers' is
a) VERY insulting
b) so hilarious that it just never gets old and deserves to be repeated every 30 seconds.

Edit: Horton and Bouwmeester, not Norton.

i think you have the disease where you talk too much and then forget to sign your name on your comments. maybe you took too many pucks to your head like your favorite "coach" craig mactarded. just try not to kill anyone when your drunk okay?
